An AI text detector for writers. See your text the way an editor will

Paste a passage of your prose. See how an AI detector reads it, before a publisher, editor or contest does.

It's a hint, not a final verdict.

You will see the result after creating a free account.

We store your text temporarily (up to 30 minutes) so the result is available after you create an account. For analysis we send it to an external AI-content detection provider, which processes it under its own privacy policy. Details in our Privacy Policy.

What it is

What is an AI text detector?

An AI text detector is a tool that estimates how much a passage reads as written by a language model versus a human. It looks at sentence patterns, word predictability and narrative rhythm, then returns an indicative score. Vellam shows you that score privately. You see it first, before anyone else does.

You paste a passage

Paste at least 300 characters of your prose. The longer the passage, the more confident the reading.

Vellam analyses the text

The same detection engine editors and contests use reads your text sentence by sentence.

You see what they will see

You get an indicative score and the spots that read as AI, before they reach anyone making a decision.

Why writers use it

Check first. Fix it, before anyone judges

See it before an editor does

Publishers and contests increasingly run submissions through detectors. Check your text before someone else does.

Defend against a false positive

Detectors get it wrong, including on text written by hand. See which passages of your prose might be mislabelled, and fix them before anyone else sees the text.

Catch the spots that read as AI

Even fully original writing can have passages that are too smooth and predictable. Vellam points them out sentence by sentence.

Private, no verdict

Only you see the result. Vellam reports nothing and accuses no one. Think of it as a rehearsal, not a verdict.

How to read it

What the score means and what it does not

A detector score is a probability, not proof. A high „human” score means the text reads as written by a person; a low one means it is worth a closer look. No detector is fully certain, which is why Vellam shows you specific sentences, not just a number. Your text is used only for this one analysis and is not stored.

Questions

Common questions about the AI detector

What is an AI text detector?

It is a tool that estimates how much a passage reads as written by a language model versus a human. It returns an indicative probability score, and in Vellam also the sentences that read as most „artificial”.

Is an AI detector accurate?

No detector is fully certain. False positives happen, including on text written by hand. So treat the result as a hint and pay attention to the specific flagged passages, not just the number.

Is my text stored?

No. The pasted passage is used only for one analysis. We do not publish it, report it to anyone, or use it to train models.

Will it flag human writing as AI?

A very smooth, predictable passage of your own writing can get a low score. That is exactly why you check your text yourself first: to see such spots and refine them before an editor does.

How much text do I need to paste?

A minimum of 300 characters, up to 150,000. Short passages give a less confident reading; the longer the coherent piece of prose, the better.

Is it free?

You start the check without an account. You will see the full result with flagged sentences after creating a free Vellam account.
