Short story
Enough for ~40,000 word analysis.
A short story, a novella or a few chapters to check.
For shorter novels or to get started.
Vellam reads a chapter and marks typos, missing commas, wrong quotation marks, dashes and dialogue punctuation in your text. For each correction you see what it was and what it will be, and you decide with a single key. Nothing goes into the text without your consent.
Caravaggio, Saint Jerome Writing, 1606 Typos, capitalisation, doubled words and confused forms. Names from your story bible are left alone.
Missing and stray commas, parenthetical phrases closed on both sides, spaces before punctuation marks. Mark by mark, never rearranging your sentences.
Curly quotes, em dashes, the ellipsis as one character, dialogue punctuation. If your book consistently follows its own house style, Vellam respects it.
Confident corrections are underlined in gold, doubtful ones are labelled "To check". Click in the text, see "Before" and "After", accept or reject.
Proofreading does not change words, word order or the rhythm of your sentences. Deliberate repetition, dialect and intentional rule-breaking in dialogue stay as you wrote them.
In the editor you check the open chapter. In editorial mode proofreading goes through the whole book as a separate round, which you review like a proofreader’s work.
Vittore Carpaccio, The Vision of Saint Augustine, 1502 The lighthouse keeper came home latter, when the fog already lay over the whole harbour. He said "don’t wait" and closed the door , before she could ask... The soup on the table had gone gone cold long ago.

Every spot goes through several independent checks: typography and punctuation rules, a language dictionary and several separate readings of the sentence. A correction reaches you as confident only when two independent reviews confirm it. When they disagree, you get it labelled "To check".
No. Corrections are only underlined. You accept or reject each one: in the panel, in the bubble above the text or with the A and R keys. "Apply all" covers confident corrections only.
English, Polish, German and Spanish. You choose the language when you add the book.
Proofreading is paid with credits, like other analyses in Vellam. You see the price of a chapter before you start, and credits are taken only after the check is finished.
Proofreading in Vellam does not replace a proofreader at the typesetting stage and does not rewrite your style. It handles spelling, punctuation and typography, and the author still approves every change.
Pay once and use whenever you want: this year, next year, when you finish one volume and start the next. Credits don't expire.

What credits pay for
One credit balance works across almost the whole app. You never buy analysis and chat separately: every feature takes what it uses from the same balance.
A full analysis uses the most, about 2.5 credits per word. A chat with the assistant or a fact check usually costs a few hundred credits. Writing, the Story Bible and export are always free.
